Killer Queen
Event Details
Killer Queen’s first public shows took place at London University, following in the footsteps of the real Queen, who had performed their earliest gigs there decades earlier. Their UK popularity quickly soared, leading to a residency at London’s Strand Theatre that attracted nationwide BBC coverage—the first time a tribute band had ever performed in the West End. Their reputation continued to grow both in the UK and abroad, culminating in an awards ceremony in Leicester Square hosted by Suggs from Madness, where they received the title of Worldwide Best Tribute Band. The band also achieved a No. 1 hit when they were asked to recreate Queen’s harmonies for Fatboy Slim’s track “The Real Life.” As their success expanded, they became in-demand performers across Europe, playing major arenas such as Ahoy and Forest National Arena—venues where Queen filmed classic concert videos for “Hammer to Fall” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
Killer Queen went on to join forces with Björn Again and The Bootleg Beatles for a Waverley Stadium show in Edinburgh, a performance that led to their selection to represent Queen in a re-staged Live Aid concert organized by Sir Bob Geldof in Malta. There, they performed alongside Geldof at his arena charity concert supporting homeless youth. Setting their sights on America, Killer Queen made their mark at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado—one of the country’s most prestigious venues and now a regular sold-out stop on their tour. In 2023, the band played packed arenas across Europe, including Stavanger, Cardiff, Nottingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Leeds. Their 2024 schedule features an arena tour in Lithuania, shows in Liverpool and Newcastle, and additional sold-out performances at Red Rocks and Austin City Limits. Reflecting on their journey, lead singer Patrick Myers shared, “It’s been an amazing journey. That first show changed my life. We thought our band would last maybe a summer at most, but performing these songs is addictive. The concerts grew and grew, and we’ve ended up playing and selling out the same arenas that Queen played at their peak. Becoming regular performers at Red Rocks is another highlight—The Beatles, U2, Springsteen, Dylan have all played on that stage. It’s really got its own kind of magic going on there.”
