AN EXTRAORDINARY OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM IN OKLAHOMA! ON THE KING CENTER MAIN STAGE!
Looking for Performers, Musicians & Students with Technical & Production Interests!
The King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse are proud to present the first annual Summer Musical Theatre Project June 18 – July 15th. Classes and rehearsals are held daily Mon-Fri., 1-5 pm. No classes or rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday, July 4th. The project culminates with three performances of OKLAHOMA! on the King Center stage July 13, 14 & 15, 2012.
Educational Experience
A four-week project with experienced professionals in a theatrical environment focusing on acting and stage experience, casting, dance, narration, orchestra and behind-the-scene support roles.
- Auditioning techniques and individual audition critiques with special attention given to each student with respect to future auditions.
- Establishment of personal goals as it relates to the performing arts.
- In-depth study of character development and identifying and discussing social issues within Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals.
- Defining elements of musical theatre and the importance they play.
- Chat backs with professional industry guests.
- Self-evaluations.
- THE INTENSIVE VOCAL, DANCE & DRAMATIC TRAINING TO PRESENT THE MUSICAL OKLAHOMA! ON THE KING CENTER STAGE WITHIN A FOUR-WEEK TIME FRAME.
- Each student will receive a complimentary curriculum guide.
Available to:
-Students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2012
-Currently enrolled high school students including graduating seniors of the 2011-2012 school year
-College freshman including students entering their sophomore year in the fall of 2012
-Eligible BCC students may recieve one college credit.
Extended deadline for applications: Friday, June 8, 2012
-Auditions will be held the week of June 11, 2012 at the King Center for the Performing Arts. Applicants will be notified of their audition time via email.
-All applicants are guaranteed an audition. Applications will be reviewed by the artistic director and the production team. Final determination will be made by the artistic director.
-If selected into the project, it is the responsibility of the participant to be at all rehearsals, classes and performances.
-Application fee (required for audition): $25. Please make checks payable to the King Center for the Performing Arts. Payment must accompany audition application. Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover are also acceptable methods of payment.
-The application fee is non-refundable and will be applied to the project fee for selected applicants.
-Project fee per participant is $300. Tuition discount for multiple participants within the same household may be available. Scholarships may be available based on financial need. For an application and further details, call (321) 433-5718.
Project Fee Includes:
*Four weeks of study, culminating with the performance of OKLAHOMA
*Two comp tickets to ONE performance of the OKLAHOMA performances.
*A complimentary Project t-shirt
*One comp ticket to the Cocoa Village Playhouse 23rd Season Announcement Party held at the King Center on July 7th, 2012
