the Backstage Pass Boomer Bash & Senior Expo

Featureing exhibitors, live music, wellness tips, drawings and entertainment!

A Veterans Salute with patriotic music at 8:30 a.m. kicks off the event. Guest speaker is retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. William Welser III, president of Space Coast Honor Flight.

As the Director of Operations and Logistics for U.S. Transportation Command, Welser was the Department of Defense’s chief mobility architect for the air and ground war during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He led transportation operations supporting the U.S. response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Indian River Colony Club resident Col. Ben Abramowitz, retired U.S. Army infantry, will speak on his family’s generations of military service, from their original U.S. immigration to the current-day war on terrorism. Abramowitz is active as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem.

Viera High School ROTC will provide Color Guard, followed by an update on a student initiative to get legislation passed to mandate government institutions purchase U.S. flags made in America.

An award for Outstanding Service will be presented to the family of Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter leader Frank Dunagan at the close of the Veterans Salute.

Darryl Benton, president of the E/20th LRP-C/75th Airborne Ranger Association, presents the "Heroes on the Water" exhibit from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Veterans also receive a complimentary portrait with military service emblem from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A Beauty Bar and Wellness Wonderland offers skin care and makeup tips, presentations and health care professionals. Attendees can register to win a beauty basket.

Cindy Cohen, makeup artist to the stars, presents "Magical Makeup Tips" at 11 a.m. Hair color and haircut tips follow at noon, with a skin care presentation at 1 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy free treats at a dessert bar at 2 p.m. Lunch will be available for purchase to benefit the King Center.

Dr. Frank Venzara will offer free dilated eye exams, a $120 value, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to screen for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and overall health of the retina, optic nerve and tissue.

Live music will be provided by Brevard's female quartet, Hot Cocoa and the Dog Bones band​, whose members play dog and cat-themed tunes along with popular standards on trombone, tuba and drums.

Visitors can make nominations for the Volunteer of the Year, and register to win the grand prize of two tickets
​t​o the Frankie Avalon concert at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach on Valentine's Day 2015 (transportation included)​
